Using Tracking Platforms for your Website Analytics

You have built a new website… but that is not job done, you need to install some website analytics codes to your website so you can keep track of what is happening on your website.

Having website analytics set up on your website can provide super valuable insights into your audience, their behaviour, and their preferences. This gives you the tools to make decisions in relation to improving your website to achieve a better customer journey, and to help you achieve your business goals.

At a bare minimum, you will want to install the following website analytics:

Google Analytics – a free web analytics service offered by Google that tracks and reports website traffic, providing website owners with valuable data on their visitors’ behavior, including the sources of traffic, demographics, and the pages visited, among other things. It works by adding a tracking code to the website that captures data and sends it to Google’s servers, where it is processed and made available for analysis in the Google Analytics dashboard.

Google Search Console – a free web service offered by Google that helps website owners monitor, maintain, and optimize their website’s presence in Google search results by providing information on search performance, indexing status, and security issues, among other things. It works by allowing website owners to verify their website with Google and access a range of tools and reports that enable them to improve their website’s visibility and performance in search results.

Meta Pixel – a tracking code that allows businesses to measure and optimize their Meta (Facebook) advertising campaigns by collecting data on user behavior on their website and linking it to their Meta (Facebook) ad account. It works by adding a small piece of code to a website, which tracks user activity and sends that data to Meta (Facebook), allowing businesses to create targeted ads and measure the effectiveness of their campaigns.

You will need access to your domain name DNS and also the ability to add header code to your website. We use this free plugin for adding header code to our websites.

Analytics is a powerful tool that provides you with valuable insights into your website performance, your audience, their behaviour and preferences, making it an essential addition to any website. Ultimately, this helps you to understand your customer journey better, assists you with increasing engagement and driving more traffic to your website, and to assist with better conversions.
